Who these terms are with
Before You Apply is a UK educational publisher of mortgage preparation resources. It is not a lender, mortgage adviser or broker. These terms apply to anyone using this website.
These terms are between you and the operator of Before You Apply, an independent sole trader established in Scotland. Contact: hello@before-you-apply.com. There is no company number because the operator is not a company.
Educational use only
This website provides educational preparation content and free tools for people preparing a UK mortgage application. Before You Apply is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and is not a mortgage adviser, broker or lender. We provide educational preparation resources only. We do not give mortgage advice, recommend lenders or products, assess eligibility, arrange mortgages or introduce you to advisers. If you need advice about your own circumstances, contact a suitably qualified FCA-authorised mortgage adviser directly.

Nothing on this site is advice of any kind, including financial, mortgage, legal or tax advice, and nothing constitutes a personal recommendation. You should not rely on any content here as a substitute for advice from a suitably qualified professional about your own circumstances. We accept no responsibility for decisions made in reliance on this site's content.
No guarantee of outcome
We do not guarantee that following any guide, checklist or tool result on this site will lead to a mortgage application being approved, or to any particular outcome. Every lender and every application is different.

We take care over the accuracy of what we publish and follow our editorial policy and corrections policy, but we do not guarantee that content is complete, current or error-free at every moment, and we do not guarantee that the website, or any tool, will be available uninterrupted. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of this site at any time.
Intellectual property
Unless otherwise stated, the text, design and organisation of this website belong to the operator of Before You Apply, an independent UK sole trader established in Scotland. You may read, print and use content for your own personal preparation. You may not republish, resell or otherwise commercially reproduce our content without permission.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use this site for any unlawful purpose or to submit false or malicious information through our forms
- Attempt to interfere with the security or normal operation of the site
- Scrape or systematically extract content for commercial redistribution
- Misrepresent this site as providing regulated financial advice
Future digital products
We plan to sell downloadable educational resources in future. Separate terms will apply to any purchase once checkout is enabled. Checkout is currently disabled and no purchase can be made on this site, so no sale terms are in force yet.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, this website, or from reliance on any content published on it, except where the law does not allow such an exclusion, for example in relation to death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have as a consumer under UK law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Governing law
The governing law and jurisdiction clause for these terms will be confirmed once a qualified legal review has taken place, rather than assumed here.
