Before You ApplyEducational mortgage-readiness preparation

Preparation tool

Application preparation timeline

Choose the month you would like to be speaking to a qualified adviser. The tool works backwards through preparation steps that are within your own control.

Application preparation timeline

Pick a month, not a completion date. The phases are our own educational suggestion for organising preparation, not lender, legal or transaction timing.

This 90-day structure is our suggestion

The three phases are a Before You Apply organisational framework for getting your own information in order. They are not a lender rule, a legal timetable, an application timetable or a completion timetable. What an adviser, a lender or a solicitor or conveyancer actually asks for varies, as does the timing of a property transaction, which differs between England and Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland. Some steps that involve third parties — such as asking an organisation to look into information it holds about you — can take as long as they take, so it can help to start those early.
